Housing solutions in the High Coast
Do you want to lay the foundation for new housing solutions in your area?
Many rural areas in Höga Kusten have a need for more attractive housing so that people can stay, move in and live a good life according to their circumstances. Housing solutions in Höga Kusten's rural areas is a project where local actors can find out how housing needs in their own community can be met through local efforts.
With support from us, you will, through local investigations together with your collaboration partners have the opportunity to lay the foundation for future housing solutions by, for example, investigating needs, looking at possible locations and developing ideas for new or converted buildings. This can involve creating a basis for everything from secure housing and building communities to new constructions and apartments.
With granted support, we will together create a competence group where we share knowledge and experiences with each other.
Together we create opportunities for better housing options in our rural areas.
By being part of the housing solutions project, you join a network of other driving actors who want to create opportunities for more and better housing.
We gather together to share experiences, ask questions, give advice and inspire each other. Through digital inspiration meetings and physical study visits, we will learn from others who have gone through similar journeys. Through this, we want to create a shared mentorship where we can help and guide each other through our individual processes.
In the network that we form together, there will also be opportunities to bring in external services that we utilize together. Depending on the needs of the various investigations, there will be opportunities for guidance through, among other things:
- Building technology
- Architecture
- Economics
- Law
- Process management
What can you apply for support for?
In the spring of 2026, you can apply for investigation-based support to lay a foundation for future housing solutions in your area.
Examples of investigations you can receive support for:
- Needs analyses to be able to take the next step
- Inventory of uninhabited houses or new plots
- Develop plans for the conversion of community buildings
- Lay the foundation for housing communities/collective building
The support is given as investigation compensation for a clearly defined effort. When you have completed your test, you submit a short final report where you describe what you did, what you found out, what you learned and what the next step will be.
Who can apply for support?
We are addressing actors who want to make a difference together. This can, for example, be:
- Associations or village development groups
- networks of entrepreneurs with a common community engagement
- cooperatives or social initiatives
- groups of entrepreneurs collaborating
- local actors with ideas
The important thing is not that everything is ready – but that there is an idea with the potential to contribute to a sustainable and thriving development of our rural areas in Höga Kusten.
About the project
Housing solutions Höga Kusten driven by Leader Höga Kusten and is based on collaboration between associations, business and the public sector. The project is part of our strategy fulfillment that is about creating more housing solutions.
Together we create a place that people want and can move to and want and can stay in.
About the support
Housing solutions in Höga Kusten are for you who want to explore the possibility of developing housing options in your area. The purpose of the project is to investigate needs and lay the foundations for people to be able to move here and for those who already live here to find housing that fits based on needs and wishes.
The support is given as investigation compensation for a clearly defined initiative – for example, to conduct a needs assessment, house/lot inventory, plan for the conversion of community building or lay the groundwork for housing communities/collective building.
Each initiative concludes with a final report, where you describe what you have done, what worked and what you have learned. It is both your delivery in the assignment and an important contribution to the shared learning of Housing Solutions.
Good to know about the support:
- 80% of the support is paid out when the investigation starts
- 20% is paid out when the final report is submitted.
- You will need to report invoices, receipts or individual costs
- You are expected to participate in joint meetings, contribute to the learning in the project and share your experiences.
- During the journey, we will purchase external expertise and arrange activities (e.g. study visits) that strengthen both your initiative and the project's entirety.
Support level: Up to 80,000 SEK per initiative
