Culture and industries – Ulvöarna

On Ulvöarna, a project has been carried out with the support of Leader Höga Kusten aimed at developing the offerings around Ulvöarna as a destination in Höga Kusten based on Ulvöarna's cultural heritage.

About the project

The background to the project is the increasingly growing tourism in Höga Kusten and on Ulvöarna. Visitors are increasingly requesting information about history and want to partake in genuine experiences, guided tours, and other tourist products.

The project, which is mainly driven by Ulvö Kapellag, focuses primarily on three areas. To begin with, they want to develop a local barrel manufacturing. The project owners want to start a local barrel manufacturing to showcase the genuine craftsmanship involved in producing surströmming barrels. Secondly, they want to develop a qualified guide program on Ulvön with infrastructure for information on Ulvöarna.

As part of this, staffed guided tours will be developed, staff at the museum will be trained, and audio guides will be produced. As a third part of the project, they want to create a better infrastructure for information supply by digitizing and indexing historically interesting images and texts on Ulvö museum's website.

The purpose of the project is, in addition to strengthening Ulvö museum as a knowledge center for the coastal communities and fishing societies' cultural heritage, also to create a holistic experience for visitors with tourist products such as barrel making, guided tours, etc.
