Rural development in Sollefteå
The non-profit association Leader Sollefteå (LUS) has for six years been a driving force in rural issues in Sollefteå municipality. Now the association is taking the next step to create even more active and attractive rural areas, increase awareness of the potential of the rural areas, and enhance local collaboration.
About the project
During the previous work with rural development, it became clear that there is a great need and potential to develop collaboration between people, associations, and businesses in the rural areas around Sollefteå. The goal of the project is to function as a catalyst that supports the association life and entrepreneurs in their plans to develop the countryside. The project also focuses on creating a belief in the future of the countryside among residents and encouraging young entrepreneurship.
Through a series of meetings (brainstorming and prioritization meetings) in 10 locations, local associations and entrepreneurs will be encouraged to create their own development plans for the rural area. LUS supports the process all the way from idea exchange and planning to implementation and evaluation.
In addition to the ten concrete development plans, the project will lead to the creation of new businesses and more job opportunities. This, for example, within tourism in Junsele parish and within local food in Långsele parish. There will also be common meeting places created in rural areas with a large influx of new Swedes. All to contribute to creating a positive image of Sollefteå municipality as a good place to live and work.
