Increased access to broadband in Härnösand. With the initiative, the aim is to make it possible for people to run businesses even outside the larger urban areas and to make it possible to live and thrive in the municipality while having access to fast digital communication.
Mobilization for broadband expansion in rural areas in Härnösand Municipality
About the project
The municipal company Härnösand Energi & Miljö AB (HEMAB) will drive the project in collaboration with the municipality, customers, and authorities. The project aims to create opportunities to expand broadband in the countryside, which would otherwise have struggled to gain access to fiber broadband. HEMAB will engage and mobilize residents, entrepreneurs, associations, and village communities to create conditions for initiating a cost-effective construction of fiber broadband.
As part of this, HEMAB will map and identify areas for expansion, develop technical prerequisites, and also produce informational materials. The project should result in 800 expressions of interest from the countryside. In the long term, the goal is to ensure that Sweden's and the municipality's objectives are met, with more residents and entrepreneurs connecting to fiber broadband and also creating new jobs in the countryside.
