About the project

The need for comfortable and safe senior housing in rural areas is significant. This is something that the newly established non-profit association ”Seniors in Nordingrå” has taken into account. The purpose is to enable senior housing with quality of life where the residents themselves can be involved in influencing the design. The senior housing is planned to be built as cooperative apartments next to Vågsfjärden on a designated and scenic plot. The church has offered to sell land for this purpose and the municipality has investigated that the land can be developed.

The project will collect and ensure that opinions and needs from several of those who have requested housing are gathered even before construction starts. The association has recruited a process leader who will visualize the senior housing at Vågsfjärden with the help of an architect. The next step is for the association to conduct study trips to other senior housing to gain inspiration in the creation. Together with building experts, seniors who are requesting housing, the church, the municipality, and the Nordingrå Interest and Business Association will create a vision of a good and safe senior housing that meets the needs of those who will live there. The construction process is expected to begin in a year.
