Cycle Sollefteå
A new initiative at Hallstaberget will now extend the season. A slope that so far has only been used as a ski slope during the winter will now also come to life during the summer.
About the project
The purpose of the application for the project ”Cycle Sollefteå” is to build trails for mountain biking in Hallstabacken consisting of four downhill biking trails, cross-country trails, and a ”skills arena.” When the project is completed, there will be challenges for everyone interested in cycling, regardless of age or skill level.
The number of people cycling in Sweden is increasing every year. With the bike trail in place, conditions are created for a significant increase in visiting guests during the summer season. The trails being planned are built sustainably and safely and are designed with varying degrees of difficulty. Crucial for the initiative is that it is long-term sustainable, and one of the cornerstones is the municipality's collaboration with the business and association sectors.
Expected effects of the project investment are the development of new and existing businesses, thereby creating more jobs. With the bike trail in place, we reach an increased number of summer tourists. Effects that in turn spill over to businesses within accommodation, services, and the municipality's other activity facilities. The initiative strengthens Sollefteå municipality's effort to become an outdoor municipality, which benefits the municipality's population and will also strengthen the destination as a whole.

”Win-win for everyone. Both local citizens and visitors can enjoy great cycling in Sollefteå.”
Initiatives from businesses led to a large collaboration project
It started with a few companies seeing the potential of what mountain biking and downhill could do to boost tourism during the summer. They quickly raised around 500,000 SEK in cash and labor contributions. They realized quite quickly that alone is not the best worker, and together with the municipality, 1.5 million.

A leader project is based on collaboration between the public sector, business, and the association sector. At least two of the three designated collaboration partners must be involved, and in this project, all three are included. Something that all parties see as positive and developmental.

When the project is completed and all bike trails are finished, there is great hope to attract more visitors to Sollefteå. This is because they are also working to encourage more local residents to discover cycling at Hallstaberget and Remsle.

Leader High Coast has been involved early in the process when putting together the project and began to review which support was possible to obtain.
The help received from Leader High Coast has been a prerequisite for being able to realize such a large project with many involved actors.
